The Good Earth provenance
Good Earth Natural Foods has been an independent natural and organic grocer in Marin County, California since 1969. They wanted a vegan, unscented shaving soap that fit their store’s ingredient standards — clean, plant-based, no perfume, no dyes, no preservatives beyond what’s functionally necessary. Sans Parfum is what we built for them. The formulation is simple, transparent, and indistinguishable in performance from our scented vegan soaps — just without the fragrance compound.
Why fragrance-free for vegan shavers
Going vegan typically means caring more, not less, about ingredient transparency. Many shavers who switch to plant-based products also reduce or eliminate added fragrance. Sans Parfum exists for that overlap:
- No fragrance, no essential oils. Even essential oils — technically “natural” — are common contact-dermatitis triggers and can carry their own ethical questions about supply chain. Sans Parfum has none.
- Vegan-only formulation. No tallow, no dairy, no lanolin, no animal-derived ingredients of any kind. The plant-fat base (kokum, cocoa, shea, mango) handles lather; jojoba oil and shea butter unsaponifiables handle skin care.
- Often searched as “moisturizing vegan shave soap.” In everyday vocabulary, that’s what people mean when they want a vegan soap that conditions skin without perfume. Sans Parfum is that.
- Hops Extract is the one botanical. Humulus lupulus (Hops) extract is included for its associated soothing effect on inflamed skin — not for scent. It contributes no perceptible aroma in the lather.

What does Sans Parfum smell like?
